My favorite outcomes are when my clients have revelations within a few hours about their tax situation, have their questions answered, are able to give input on last-minute deductions, and then finish smiling and relieved as they receive their final documents.

I've built this business by my own hand-calculated and paper-filed taxes. A memorable year had three states including two businesses, a lawsuit, and a bit of nerves because I was photocopying and mailing out my taxes on April 15, at a library and post office in an unfamiliar small town off of Highway 70. "Whew - I did it!" Then I got back in my car and drove to the final destination.

There are many experiences in my personal and business life that help me relate to a lot of people's situations. I keep grounded by knowing that I've gone beyond being a basic tax preparer and paper pusher to be a state-licensed certified public accountant (CPA) professional since 2012. Every hour of business, tax, and ethics courses taken for my continuing education- well, it's just what I do- as a lifelong learner. The accounting humor is real...solving puzzles is fun, and it brings me joy! 

In Minnesota, my tax office started at home, moved to rentals, and is now at a sunny location in a small-town south of the Twin Cities. Word has spread about my practice's unique style of face-to-face meetings with tax preparation, and filing all at the same time! When needed, it expanded to other methods of communication including virtual.
